From poverty to owning their own business
The story of the Choguaj brothers
Working in the coffee farms since an early age has been the go-to option for those born in poverty in San Lucas Toliman. The Choguaj brothers come from a big family of nine childred. Bryan, Pablo and Fernando, were able to be part of Promised Land Ministries since they were around six years old.
They became part of Promised Land School sponsorship program in 2004. By 2017, the three eldest brothers of nine siblings had graduated as accountants. Being motivated after accomplishing their first goals, they set out to new ones; they started a small business, a school and office supply store. A very small version of an Office Depot if you will.
“I was part of the feeding program “Manantial” at Promised Land Ministries in 2004. The following year, I was part of the first group of students at PLM in kindergarten. In 2007, I was able to meet my sponsor Lilian and her husband, Oscar. I always remember them with love.” Bryan Choguaj
Today, they are proud owners of three stores and one piñata factory. They set the example for their siblings to follow. The youngest brother will also be joining them in their business in the near future.
The Choguaj brothers cherish the time they spent at Promised Land School, their teachers, the classes and their sponsors. They will have fond memories.
Sponsoring a child in our school provides this same opportunity to others, to be able to reach for a better future. Be part of changing a life through education.

“I want to thank the pastors, and the people involved such as sponsors, staff, and others. We are now adults and have families of our own and everything has been possible because of the impact PLM had in our lives. On behalf of our families and my brothers, we want to say THANK YOU!”
